A Black-led child care center in Georgetown, Kentucky
Teddy is a licensed center for 85 children, led by Edwina Boddie. A teacher meets your child at the room door each morning, and you get a note at pickup.

What you can check
Teddy holds a Kentucky child care center license. Here is who licenses us, how many adults care for each room's children, and how each day is kept steady. School-age siblings of enrolled children come before and after school.

You sign your child in and out at the front desk. We release a child only to the people on your written list, and we ask for ID from anyone we don't know.
Tell us about any allergy at the tour. Once you enroll, we ask again in private, and the room's teacher keeps the list where every adult can see it.
Infants sleep on their backs, in their own cribs, with nothing else in the crib.
Every room washes hands on arrival, before meals and after outdoor play.
Each room practices fire and severe-weather drills with the teacher who leads it.

Six rooms, one path
A child moves up when they're ready, and you hear about it before the move.
Tummy time and floor play
Bottles and naps on each baby's own rhythm
Songs, rocking and board books
When your baby is walking and steady, Thea talks with you first, and your child visits the Toddler room with a caregiver they know.
Walking, climbing and pushing a toy
Naming things in picture books
Stacking, nesting and filling a bucket
A morning visit to the Twos room comes first, with a teacher your child has already met.
Playing beside friends and starting to share
Singing, shaking and drumming
Dressing up in the play kitchen
The Twos and Threes share a hallway, so the next room is already familiar.
Circle time, the calendar and helping jobs
Painting, cutting and gluing
Telling a story from a picture book
Near the end of the year the Threes spend a morning in the Fours room.
Counting games with blocks and beads
Listening to a longer story
Tending the garden bed
In spring, the Fours teacher and your family talk about what comes next.
Writing a name and the first letters
Taking turns and solving a problem together
Walking in a line and lining up for a bus
Khari and your family plan the move to kindergarten together, school by school.

For enrolled families
If your child is in one of our rooms, an older child can join us for the hours around the school day.
School-age siblings come in before the bell and after it, and on days when school is out. We are not an after-school program for the neighborhood: this is for the families who are already here, so the drop-off stays one stop.
Open to school-age brothers and sisters of enrolled children
Homework at the table, then free play outside
School-out days are set on the calendar below

Our team
Meet Edwina and the leads of the Infant and Pre-K rooms at a tour.

Director
Edwina has directed Teddy since it opened its doors. She greets families at the front door and knows each child by name.

Infant room lead
Thea leads the youngest room and keeps a note for each family: feedings, naps and what your baby tried today.

Pre-K lead
Khari teaches the oldest room, with stories, letters and a plan for the move to kindergarten.
From families
“We started in the Infant room. Thea knew our daughter's feeding times before I finished explaining, and we had a note at every pickup.”
“Pickup is never a rush. Edwina is at the front door most afternoons, and she asks about the whole family, not just about the day.”
“Our son started in Pre-K and our oldest comes after school. One drop-off, one pickup, and the same teachers who know us.”

Five steps from the first call to the first morning.
Call the front desk, write to us or use the form. Edwina or the office answers within a day.
Come see the rooms with your child. A tour takes about half an hour, and you can ask about anything, including tuition.
Fill in the application and tell us the room and schedule you hope for. If the room is full, we put your family on the waitlist and call when a place opens.
Once there is a place, you complete the enrollment forms in private: your child's details, health and the people allowed to pick up.
Bring a change of clothes and anything your child sleeps with. A teacher meets you at the room door, and you are welcome to stay a while.
From six weeks to the year before kindergarten, in six rooms: Infants, Toddlers, Twos, Threes, Fours and Pre-K.
School-age brothers and sisters of enrolled children can join us before and after school. It is for enrolled families only.
Write or call, and we will tell you where your child's room stands. If it is full, we put your family on the waitlist and call when one opens.
On the holidays in the calendar, and when weather closes us. We tell families by text message.
Yes. It is posted at the front desk, and Edwina will go through it with you at a tour.
